I’m Building A New Website

September 19, 2014

.

Over the past five months,
I have been training myself on how to build a website.

You see, I am not exactly flushed with cash and it is a pretty expensive endeavour to start a new business. So many little (& some large) costs that are incurred . . . . branding, postage, online shop, advertising, a website, marketing, stationery, photography, product/service production, social media updates, and so much more!

Hence, I have been scouting out free tutorials anywhere on the Interweb, to try to learn the basics and grow my knowledge base so that the website for my business [Purple Paper House] is totes-awesome!

And I’m almost there!

So very, very close.

And I wanted to share some of the wonderful tutorials and websites that have brought me so close to creating my own, real and professional website.
I hope you find them as useful as I did.

This FREE Udemy by Erine Flynn course was a brilliant way in which to improve my website . . . .

.

Katrina from 77webstudio is very generous with her knowledge and her videos are brilliant!

.

And what can I say about Marie Forleo?
She is fun, funny, generous and dare I say it – wise.

Craft Storage – DIY Of Course ;)

April 6, 2014

I’m holding a new craft class this month.

Something I have a distinct passion for . . . . cool storage ideas.
Best yet – it’s DIY, so you can alter and adjust them to suit your own needs.

I LOVE having the ability and opportunity
to modify something to make it perfect for my place.

So cool!

I’ll post some pictures of my own choice as soon as I have finished :)

Creating A Watermark for Your Photos

January 3, 2014

Recently,
I have been trying to get my shizzle into action.

So many crappy things have happened to me in the past four weeks,
that I thought it was time that I
forgot all about it,
and just got on with my life.

So . . . . .

One of the jobs I had to tackle
and just always ignored,
was making/creating a ‘Copyright Watermark’
for the myriad of photos I upload
to the Interweb every year,
and the hundreds I intend to upload
THIS year.

So I did a quick search on my favourite Search Engine** – Pinterest

I came across a STACK of great tutes
for creating bibs and bobs on
PicMonkey.

.

.

I use to be a Photoshop,
then PhotoBucket, fan
but I have found PicMonkey to be easier to use.

No,
I did NOT receive an endorsement
for talking about PicMonkey

(Jeez – I wish!),
it just happens to be a brilliant photo editing website.
It IS free,
however I pay the $4.99 a month
for the Upgraded version – bloody worth it!

Anyhoo,
I checked out a few of the ‘Pins’ to see which ones
best suited what I needed.

This one at Tempting Thyme, almost did it for me,
however wasn’t quite what I needed.
And of course, being a blogger,
she TOTALLY linked back to where she got her info from,
which meant I could go check out her source, for myself.

If only MainstreamMedia and BigBusiness were this ethical
– imagine how awesome our world would be !!!

So I went to Beginner Beans,
and followed Trina’s brilliant and oh-so-easy tute
on how to Create A Watermark
for my own use.

Awesome!

.

And here is the final copy of my efforts

.

.

.

.

.

.

So whatta think?

Any good?

What about the tutorials?
Did you find them useful.

Go on, you can tell me . . . .

.

.

** Yes, yes! I know Pinterest is not a Search Engine
(as such),
but realistically it’s an awesome way to locate something
that you KNOW will be there ;)

Inspiring Words Amongst the Crystals

October 19, 2013

.

.

When I am exhausted,
I end up sitting at my desk,
simultaneously crafting
and
surfing the InterWeb.

Don’t judge me :P

.

.

.

I just have to share an amazing Tumblr site,

in the ‘snap shot’ above,

I came across today.
It’s the account for a
beading & gemstone business.

.

.

.

.

What so awesome about this Tumblr account,
is that amongst the beautiful images of
crystals
&
jewellery
&
charms,
is some gorgeous and amazing
quotes and words of wisdom.

.

.

.

.

It was a wonderful find!

.

.

.

.

This one is my favourite . . .

.

.

.

They also have three pretty awesome boards on Pinterest –
* DIY: Jewelry (sic) Stands
* DIY Crafts
* Quotes

Cat Haven?

January 1, 2013

For the past 8 days I have been
cussing,
designing
banging,
cutting,
measuring,
chucking tantrems,
cussing some more
and then completing
the Taj Mahal
of cat enclosures.

I better win Daughter of the Year 2013 or I will be seriously *@^ed!

.

.

The entire area blocked off to avoid any dog ‘smells’ getting near the enclosure . . .

Ignore the sagging - it's a design feature!

View from above – fairly palatial, don’t you think?

Lofty outdoor digs for a cat?

Facilities include: lavatory, landscaping, viewing platform, visitors’ parking, solid constructions (cough, splutter) and designer furniture.

One of the many features . . an armchair being used as a ladder.

The chair - used for entry & exit via the window

So? Do I win? Daughter of the Year?

Bloody better!!!!
